Ce mercredi 2 février à 20h, le Sénégal affrontera le Burkina Faso en demi-finale de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations. Si les Lions partent avec la faveur des pronostics dans cette rencontre, les étalons ne comptent pas faire de la figuration à ce stade de la compétition.

Les deux équipes ont connu des démarrages timides dans cette 33e édition de la CAN avant de monter en puissance au fil des matchs. Le Burkina Faso s’était incliné lors de son premier match face au Cameroun (2-1). Pourtant les Etalons étaient les premiers à ouvrir le score mais ils se sont fait rattraper et doubler après avoir concédé deux penalties en première période. Les hommes de Kamou Malo se sont ressaisis dans le deuxième match en s’imposant 1 à 0 contre le Cap-Vert et en faisant un nul face à l’Ethiopie (1-1). Des résultats en demi-teinte qui leur ont tout de même permis de se qualifier pour les huitièmes de finale et d’affronter le Gabon. Là encore, la sélection burkinabè va livrer une prestation moyenne mais remporte le match à l’issue des tirs au but (1-1 après prolongations ; 7-6 aux tirs au but). Opposé à la Tunisie en quart de finale, le Burkina Faso s’impose sur le score d’un à zéro au cours d’un match où il a été réduit à 10.

Cette dernière rencontre a mis en évidence la palette de jeu de cette équipe. Niveau animation, les Étalons privilégient les débordements sur les ailes. Alliant technique et vitesse, leurs excentrés sont capables de fulgurance à tout moment. A l’image du but inscrit face à la Tunisie lors de leur dernière rencontre. Lancé en profondeur sur la droite par Blati Touré, Dango Ouattara va prendre de vitesse le latéral tunisien et se retrouver dans la surface de réparation. L’attaquant met dans le vent ses deux adversaires avec une feinte de frappe puis marque d’un missile du gauche. Si ce but est venu de l’aile, l’action en entière est issue d’une contre-attaque qui est en soi leur atout majeur. De toutes ses rencontres dans cette CAN, le Burkina Faso n’a jamais eu plus de possession que leurs adversaires à l’issue d’un match. Ils préfèrent laisser le ballon et punir à la moindre erreur. L’illustration parfaite est le but inscrit contre le Gabon en huitième de finale. Suite à une mauvaise passe gabonaise dans le camp burkinabè, les Etalons vont, en 3 passes, sortir le ballon et le mettre en profondeur pour Bertrand Traoré, qui va ajuster le gardien.

Des leaders techniques sur toutes les lignes

Bien que la sélection des hommes intègres mise énormément sur son collectif, leurs individualités n’en demeurent pas moins dangereuses. Le premier nom qui se démarque dans cette équipe est bien celui de Bertrand Traoré. L’attaquant d’Aston Villa a pris les rênes de cette équipe depuis les départs à la retraite des cadres tels que : Aristide Bancé, Charles Kaboré… Jusqu’à là, le capitaine des étalons n’a inscrit qu’un but dans cette CAN Contre le Gabon). Une statistique qui s’explique sans doute par le fait qu’il a manqué deux matchs au cours de la compétition (Cap-Vert et Tunisie) à cause d’un test positif au Covid et une blessure. D’ailleurs, il est incertain contre le Sénégal. Au milieu de terrain, on retrouve Ibrahim Blati Touré. Il est à coup sûr le meilleur joueur de cette sélection Burkinabè dans ce tournoi.

Le joueur des Pyramids (première division Égyptienne) a été élu homme du match à 3 reprises (contre le Cap-Vert, le Gabon et la Tunisie). Des distinctions à juste titre car, lors de ces rencontres il a touché 176 ballons, réussi 82,83% de ses passes et distillé deux passes décisives (Contre le Gabon et la Tunisie. Il est clairement le métronome de ce milieu burkinabè et n’hésite pas à aller au duel quand il le faut. Enfin en défense, on note la présence de la pépite de 22 ans Edmond Tapsoba. Le défenseur central du Bayer Leverkusen affirme tout le bien que de nombreux observateurs pensent de lui. Le colosse défenseur burkinabè (1m 94, 85 kg) est difficile à bouger dans les duels et affectionne les relances balle au pied. Il n’hésite pas à faire des remontées afin d’apporter le surnombre dans le camp adverse.

Maîtriser le milieu de terrain et fermer les ailes : les mots d’ordre des Lions ?

Au vu de toutes les qualités burkinabè susmentionnées, il est clair que les hommes d’Aliou Cissé auront fort à faire. A priori, le sélectionneur national devrait évoluer en 4-3-3 et par rapport au match contre la Guinée Equatoriale, le même onze devrait être reconduit à l’exception de deux changements. Cheikhou Kouyaté et Ismaila devraient retrouver leurs places de titulaires. Une hypothèse des plus probables après leur entrée en jeu déterminante lors du match contre la Guinée Equatoriale. Mais le retour de Kouyaté dans ce match contre le Burkina Faso se justifierait aussi par la volonté d’apporter de l’impact physique dans l’entrejeu sénégalais.

Ainsi, le joueur de Crystal Palace sera vraisemblablement accompagné d’Idrissa Gueye et de Nampalys Mendy. Mais les tâches de ce trio seront multiples. En plus de batailler dans le cœur du jeu, ils devront désamorcer les contres dévastateurs burkinabè mais aussi, soutenir les latéraux face aux galops des étalons sur les ailes. Mais globalement, ce sont les lignes sénégalaises qui devront être bien fermées afin d’éviter les errements comme ce fût le cas sur le but Equato-guinéen lors du tour précédent.
